The $10,000 Instagram Account of a Russian Photographer

Dmitry Markov, a 33-year-old photographer from Pskov, became on Thursday one of the first winners of the Getty Images Instagram Grant.



The grant of $10,000 was launched this year by Instagram and Getty Images to "support photographers using Instagram to document stories from underrepresented communities around the world."



On his Instagram account, Markov documents pensioners, veterans and orphans in his hometown.



"Two years ago I set up an account for my photographs, and I couldn't have imagined then that it would become one of my favorite projects," Markov said in a comment on his Instagram page in reaction to the prize.
