Russian Helicopters is looking to increase its production of military and civilian helicopters by more than 10 percent next year, the holding's general director, Dmitry Petrov, said Thursday. "We plan to produce 267 helicopters in 2011 and sell 262." Petrov said.

Russian aviation companies and airlines will require 1,600 to 1,800 new aircraft in the next 10 to 15 years, Deputy Transportation Minister Valery Okulov told the Rossia-24 television channel at the MAKS air show. He added that the bulk of this figure would be for narrow-fuselage long-haul carriers able to seat between 120 and 210 passengers. "We estimate demand for SSJ-100 regional aircraft at 150 to 180 units," he said.

Ukrainian state enterprise Antonov, while designing the An-124 Ruslan and An-70 aircraft jointly with Russia's United Aircraft Corporation, will use Siemens PLM software, the German technology company said Thursday.
Siemens Industry Automation Division, which develops and supplies programming solutions and services, will supply the software. The company's solutions allow enterprises to organize joint operations in a delegated environment.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund could announce plans to co-finance aerospace industry projects with private investors late this year or early next, the fund's director, Kirill Dmitriyev, said during a presentation at MAKS. "The sector has its strategic projects, but commercial ones too, and investors could make good gains here, in a segment where the fund plays a significant role. We're already looking at several situations involving specialized aviation companies and support infrastructure, and at aircraft manufacturing projects," Dmitriyev said.
