Moscow's Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army will celebrate the 101st birthday of Russian stage heavyweight and national entertainer Vladimir Zeldin with a show in which he will give a special performance, according to a theater press release.

The show, “100+1” will take place on the star’s birthday — Feb. 10 — on the stage of the theater where he has delighted audiences for more than 70 years.

“Before the show begins, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and head of the presidential administration Sergei Ivanov will greet the artist in his dressing room,” the theater said.

Zeldin has received a congratulatory telegram from President Vladimir Putin, the state-run TASS news agency reported.

In the telegram, Putin expressed his “heartfelt congratulations” and thanked him for “time and again delighting fans on the Russian Army stage,” TASS reported.

After the performance, Zeldin’s colleagues will present him with a gift onstage and the event will conclude with a birthday banquet.

A Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.

By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
