GERMAN Leonore: an early version of Beethoven's only opera "Fidelio," that tells how Leonore, disguised as the prison guard "Fidelio," rescues her husband from death in prison. Directed and choreographed by Mikhail Kislyarov. Performed in German. Pokrovsky Chamber Musical Theater. 7 p.m.

The School for Wives (Shkola Zhyon): Vladimir Martynov's opera bouffe based on Moliere's comedy about a middle-aged man who battles a young rival for the attentions of his pretty ward. Yury Lyubimov's libretto includes aphorisms by Kozma Prutkov and texts from Moliere's "The Bourgeois Gentleman." Sets by Boris Messerer, costumes by Rustam Khamdamov. Novaya Opera. 7 p.m.
